Gallery.
We've put together a selection of photos from around the UKIC to show you what we do year round. We've also included a couple at the top of the page looking at the annual Law Ride which many Blue knights® in the UK attend, in which we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. And as Al Goold the conference Vice Chairman says "Remember, we got to go home at night, those we're remembering didn't".
Remember that this isn't a comprehensive list of all the activities that the Blue Knights are involved in. It is just a taster of what we all do throughout any given year. If you want to take part in any of the events or activities shown here, then contact your local chapter who will be able to give you further information about what they're doing in the future as well as details of membership. The UKIC Law Ride
As you can see from these photos, the day is all about the families and those left behind following a line of duty death. The Blue Knights go to the National Memorial Arboretum, which is the home of the Armed Forces Memorial in Staffordshire, to take part in the day of remembrance with the families and survivors.
We're there to offer our support to the survivors and assist in any way we can. Just being there is very important and it is worthwhile for any Blue Knight to make the effort to go and experience it for him or herself.
The day is also remembered by all the police services within the UK and Ireland at the wreath laying ceremony and representatives from police forces round the world also make the effort to pay their respects.
Throughout the year we attend events and organise rides try to raise as much money as possible for COPS, the charity set up by survivors for survivors.
Charities
The Blue Knights® within the UKIC also actively support many charitable organisations and institutions to try to bring a little relief to those less fortunate than us.
Many times the chapters organise events such as toy runs to take presents and parcels to children who will unfortunately be in hospital over Christmas as well as those in hospices and respite centres.
Events
The Blue Knights organise and go to many rallies and social events both locally, nationally and abroad. Here in the UK and Ireland, the main event that takes place is the annual UK&I Conference rally, which is a nominated chapter rally that has applied to the conference to carry out that role.
Many of the rallies are visited by members from around the world and in 2007 the UKIC rally, which was held in Nottingham and hosted by England VI, was fortunate to host our International President, Mike Ripsch from the United States.
England XIV held its inaugural rally earlier in 2008 to celebrate King Arthur and his Round Table. However, there is also the International Convention held in July of each year usually in the US, but there is the hope that at some time in the future it will be held in the European Union as membership continues to grow.
Many members from the UK and Ireland make the effort to get to the International Convention as it's the largest gathering of Blue Knights anywhere in the world.
To find out more and see what's happening go to the events page where you will find links to that rally websites as well as any other information about them.
Recruitment
Several of the chapters have organised recruitment drives at national exhibitions to get the word out about the Blue Knights®. The purpose being to inform those eligible to join and may not have known about us who and what we are.
There is a fully equiped stand available to the chapters should they wish to organise a recruitment stand for themselves from the UKIC, a small part of which is shown here. It includes flags, photo stands, promotional material and leaflets for anyone thinking of joining the Blue Knights®.
Finally, we mustn't forget those members who are serving abroad for Queen and Country in the cause of peace.
